For treasure hunters…

See if you can find this book for yourself. It’s magic.

Scherr finds inspiration in illustrated storybooks from her childhood. In one of her very treasured books, The Rainbow Goblins, the goblins search desperately for the rainbow in order to trap and drink its colors. But the flowers secretly ensnare the goblins in their own lassoes, and save the rainbow forever. In return the rainbow transforms the flowers into beautifully plumed rainbow-hued birds that fly off into the trees.

As in The Rainbow Goblins, for Scherr, paint color becomes everything. The marks painted on the canvas are like answers you can eat, and that can be shared. When Scherr finishes one of these fast paced paintings, the story is complete. And you can see it in the rainbows of spilled paint pooling on the grass, or sometimes up on the branches of the tree. These moments, paused on her canvas, are treasures that continue to unfold new stories.
